Week 8
It's week 8, and the pups are heading out to their new homes. At their evaluation last Friday, Pat Hastings rated
7 of the 9 pups as show/breeding potential, which is great news! All three males, and three females will be kept intact
for future evaluation and potential breeding.
Here are the pups at 8 weeks, and where they are heading to.

Week 7-8
Where does the time go? Last Sunday we hosted a gathering of folks for a Puppy Socialization Party! We put
on funny hats, made strange and loud noises, sprayed the puppies with air, and flapped an umbrella at them. In addition,
Dave Schiller walked around on crutches. These pups are bomb proof! Nothing fazed them at all, which is great
to see. Mr. Green found the umbrella very interesting, and wanted to eat it.
Here are a few more photos from the
picnic. More later.....

Week 5
The pups went on an adventure into the back yard and the puppy kennel. More room and a small pool (read water heater
lid) to boot! A visit with Karen and Dave Schiller, lots of running around and playing with Cousin Alley and Great Aunt
Freyja. The pups got lots of exercise and are now asleep.

Week 4 1/2 -5!
Puppies graduated to the living room late last week, and started on puppy gruel! I think I need to build an addition
to the house! During our ventures into the front yard, the pups explore, and then settle in for a nap, even with all
the construction noise going on just a few yards away. Zuzu still loves to see her pups, but doesn't nurse much any
more, much to the dismay of the puppies. Pups are weighing in from 5 pounds to 6.5 pounds as of 6/21/10.
Here
are a few photos.

Week Two Pupdate!
It's been a busy two weeks! Puppy eyes are now open, and they are walking on all fours, though still a bit wobbly.
Mama Zuzu is looking forward to the day the pups start eating solid food.
The puppies have been doing their puppy
calesthenics over the last 2 wks, and have already been for 2 car rides. (They slept through the rides both times!)
With the nice weather we've been having, the pups ventured outside to experience their first new surface, grass. They
were very interested, and none of them was freaked out in the least. They all seem to have very solid temperaments,
very sweet.
Enjoy!

We are still trying to catch up on some sleep around here, but things are settling in. Pups are eating well, though
with nine puppies, it takes a bit more effort to make sure everyone is getting even time at the milk bar. Even after a couple
of days, the pups are plumping up and looking stronger.
Zuzu's delivery went fairly well, with the first stages of
labor starting around 1am on Friday, and her first puppy being born at 10am Friday. I swear the puppies just "oozed"
out, as I never saw a contraction. She just wimpered once or twice throughout the whole thing. Bless her. The
first six pups came fairly quickly, and after that, we averaged 3-4 hours between pups. The last pup arrived at 2:30am Saturday.
Fortunately Zuzu delivered on a weekday, and during business hours (for the most part), so when we needed to call our vets
(repro and regular) they were easy to reach.
The pups generally ranged between 11.5 oz. and 13.75 oz. We have
one smaller girl who weighed in at 8.25 oz. She had a bit of a slow start, but is a good nurser, and is gaining weight.
They are all good eaters.
Here are some more photos to enjoy. The pups were very wiggly, but I figure I better get them
up. More to come....

The puppies are here!
Zuzu the day before. Not looking too huge. Little did we know!
The first three were so easy, we thought this would be a cakewalk!

The next thing we knew, there were 5! How'd that happen?

After a quick trip to the vet to find out how many there really were, the next thing we knew, there were
7!
But wait, there's more to come!
That's a whole mess of puppies!
I'm exhausted! When do they go home?
The happy moms getting well deserved rest :-)
